Sikh leader Bhai Daljeet Singh released from Amritsar Jail

Amritsar, Punjab (February 28, 2012): After detention of more than two years Sikh political leader Bhai Daljit Singh, Chairman of Akali Dal Panch Pardhani, is released from Central Jail, Amritsar. He was welcomed by many prominent Sikh personalities, leaders, representatives of various Sikh organizations and Sikhs outside Amritsar Jail. Bhai Daljeet Singh was considered to be ideological leader of Sikh struggle from times of Sikh militant movement of 1980s-90s. He headed Sikh Students Federation in late 1980s to early 1990s and was one of the five members of Panthic Committee.

Release of Bhai Daljeet Singh delayed; Now expected on Tuesday

Amritsar, Punjab (February 27, 2012): Apparently due to political pressure, the release of Sikh leader Bhai Daljeet Singh, chief of Akali Dal Panch Pardhani has been delayed. Though no fresh date of release is officially declared but it is expected that judicial orders requiring immediate release of Bhai Daljeet Singh shall be processed on Tuesday.

Amritsar, Punjab (February 27, 2012): Release of Sikh leader Bhai Daljeet Singh, Chief of Akali Dal Panch Pardhani is expected today from Central Jail Amritsar. Bhai Daljeet Singh was last arrested on 27 August, 2009 due to political reasons. Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur of Panch Pardhani told "Sikh Siyasat" that Bhai Sahib was being targeted by the Indian State due to his dissenting political ideology.

Dr. Sewak Singh to tell students importance of mother language

Malout, Punjab (February 26, 2012): International Mother Language Day is observed on 21 February every year. As per information posted on website of the Sikh Students Federation (SSF), Guru Teg Bahadur Group of Colleges, Chhapianwali, Malout unit of SSF will be organizing a special lecture of Dr. Sewak Singh on 27 February, 2012 to mark the day which signifies the importance of mother language.

Sikh Genocide 1984: Victims demand prosecution of perpetrators

New Dehli (February 16, 2012): Victims of Sikh Genocide of November 1984 held a justice rally outside Karkardooma Court where Additional Sessions Judge is hearing the 1984 victims’ appeal against the Clean Chit given to Jagdish Tytler by the CBI. Hundreds of protestors joined the Justice Rally to demand the prosecution of Congress (I) leader Tytler against the possible commutation of Kishori Lal’s sentence who butchered Sikhs during November 1984. As per information available with "Sikh Siyasat" Advocate Kamna Vohra lawyer for the victims of November 1984 submitted a sworn affidavit of US based attorney Gurpatwant S. Pannun who represented witnesses late Giani Surinder Singh, Jasbir Singh and Resham Singh during CBI’s visit to USA in December 2008.

Sikh Genocide 1984: Justice rally to be held at Delhi on February 16

New Delhi, India (February 13, 2012): All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF - PeerMohammad) announced to file a PIL before Delhi High Court challenging the commutation of Kishori Lal's sentence who has been convicted of murdering several Sikhs during November 1984. Lieutenant-Governor (L-G) Tejendra Khanna of Delhi has commuted the life sentence of Kishori Lal on the recommendation of the states Sentence Review Board (SRB). Kishori Lal, a butcher from Trilokpuri area of East Delhi was sentenced to death seven times by the trial court for murdering several Sikhs during November 1984 massacre.

New Delhi/Chandigarh (February 13, 2012): As per news reports from Delhi, Kishori Lal (48), a multiple-murder convict lodged in Tihar Jail since 1996, will soon be a free man. He was convicted for multiple counts of murders in a case related to 1984 Genocidal violence against Sikhs in Delhi. He was sentenced to imprisonment for life. Kishori Lal, a former butcher who stayed in east Delhi's Trilokpuri, had been accused of stabbing victims in the neighbourhood. He had been sentenced to death seven times by the lower courts. The Supreme Court, later, commuted them to life terms. Kishori Lal was among 25 people, convicted by city courts for offences connected to the 1984 genocidal violence against the Sikhs.

Mansa, Punjab (February 10, 2012): Bapu Karnail Singh, father of Bhai Swaran Singh has passed away. Bhai Swaran Singh Kotdharmu is confined in Karnal Jail, Haryana is facing trial for making attempt on life of Dera Sauda Sirsa head, Gurmeet Ram Raheem near Neelokheri (Karnal) on February 02, 2008.

Website of Sikh for Justice (SJF) hacked – Complaint filed with FBI and other authorities

New York, USA (February 6, 2012): The website of Sikh for Justice (SFJ), (http://sikhsforjustice.org), a US based human rights advocacy group which is seeking justice for the victims of November 1984 Sikh Genocide, has been hacked. SFJ has filed a written complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), a Unit of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) which is responsible for investigating and prosecuting internet crimes.

Punjab Government and police wanted to withdraw case against DSS head

Sedition case: After 7 years, police filed charge-sheet against Sikh activists

Amritsar, Punjab (February 04, 2011): In a sudden move, the city police have filed a challan in the trail court of CJM Kuldeep Singh against 22 Dal Khalsa activists after the period of 6 and a half years of registering of the case. As per information available with Sikh Siyasat six of Dal Khalsa activists today appeared in the court. The court has directed all the 22 accused to appear in the court on the next date of hearing i.e. March 13. All the accused are on bail.

Sikhs seek SC initiative regarding probe on Chattisinghpora Massacre; 36 Sikhs were killed

Srinagar, Kashmir (February 02, 2012): The All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC), a Sikh organization of Sikhs living in Kashmir, on January 31, 2012 sought intervention of the Supreme Court of India for conducting a time-bound inquiry into the killing of 36 Sikhs at Chattisinghpora in south Kashmir in 2000. They welcomed the observations of the Supreme Court in Pathribal killings issue, which is in a way connected with the Chittisinghpura Massacre.
