Chandigarh: Accusing Capt. Amarinder Singh led Congress govt. of divesting Govt employees from their Constitutional ‘Right to vote’ , the Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday demanded from the State Election commission to ensure that the govt. employees must be given the opportunity to avail their right to vote in the Panchayat Election scheduled for 30th December.

In a letter written to the state Election Commission, the senior leader and MLA Sunam, Aman Arora said that it is feared that the govt. has deliberately debarred the employees from their right to vote fearing that they will vote against the pro-Congress candidates due widespread anger amongst the employees because of anti-employee policies of govt. In his letter Arora said that the employees had brought it to his notice which was confirmed from the

Poll conducting administration that the govt. employees deputed to conduct the panchayat elections on December 30 would not be able to cast their votes because of non availability of postal ballot papers. He said that it is the clear cut violation of the rights bestowed to every citizen by the Constitution of the Country and Rule 22 (1) of Punjab Panchayat election rules 1994 and Punjab govt. and election commission is responsible for it.

Arora demanded that the State Election commission must look into the matter and make special arrangements so that the employees can avail their voting right.
