Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has appointed presidents and co-president in 19 assembly segments in the state. Party says that the move was aimed at strengthening and expanding the party base in Punjab.
A statement issued from party head office in Chandigarh stated that Ajay Verma is appointed president of Hoshiarpur (Urban). It stated that the unanimous decision was taken at the core committee of the party held in Chandigarh on Friday (Jan. 25) under the chairmanship of Principal Budh Ram. The meeting was attended by Sangrur Member of Parliament (MP) Bhagwant Mann, Prof. Sadhu Singh, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Vidhan Sabha, Harpal Singh Cheema.
Among those appointed presidents and co-president, included Mahinder Singh Kachoora (Jalalabad), Sandip Saini (Hoshiarpur), Rattan Singh Kakadkalan (Shahkot), Samarvir Singh (Fazilka), Amarit Lal Aggarwal (Bathinda urban), Jagtar Singh Dialpura (Samrala), Baljinder Singh Chaunda (Payal), Rajinderpal Kaur Chhinna (Ludhiana –South),Jarnail Manu (Ghanuar), Inderjit Singh Sandhu (Sanaur), Neena Mittal (Rajpura), Ajaib Singh Hmeergarh (Rampuraphul) and Amolak Singh has been appointed president from Jaito.
Similarly, the following were appointed vice-presidents of the Gurpreet Singh Bhuchar halqa president (Mansa) while and Ranjit Singh Ralla was appointed vice-president, Sukhbir Singh Maicharkhana, vice-president (Maur), Amritpal Singh Sukhanand, vice-president (Baghapurana), Davinder Singh, vice-president (Sutrana), Surinder Singh Mann, vice-president (Ajnala), Master Hardyal Singh, vice president (Anandpur Sahib), Harvinder Singh Dhahan, vice-president and Jeevanjot Kaurvice president (Amritsar-east).
