The students held a meeting at Akal Takhat Sahib in Amritsar on April 09 and issued a written press release making announcement to remove Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad from his post.

In their statement students said that Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad had retracted from his promise to handover the leadership of the group to the students.

“We were compelled to take this move as Bhai Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad has retracted from his commitment to handover the leadership of AISSF to students on March 14”, said Anmoldeep Singh and Bhopinder Singh.

In a statement sent to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) Jagrup Singh Cheema maintained that “students have full faith in Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad’s leadership”. He said that the April 9 announcement by “some students” was a conspiracy to harm the image of AISSF. He said that he would expose the conspiracy in coming days.

Talking to Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) prior to April 9 Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad confirmed he had announced to hand over the leadership of AISSF to the students on March 14 but, he maintained, no capable leadership was available amongst the students to fulfil the responsibilities. He said that he could not be pressurised “in this manner” and he was not concerned about creation of another faction under the name of a group, that is already divided into various factions.
