Chandigarh/ Jalandhar, Punjab (April 09, 2013): In a press statement sent of Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) the All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF – Peermohammad) has condemned Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for its U-turn on the issue of Punjabi Movie ‘Sadda Haq’’.
It is notable that SGPC, that had initially supported the movie, has backtracked on the issue earlier on April 08, 2013. SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar who had earlier hailed and supported the film had defended the ban on film justifying the decision of the government.
Coming down heavily on the SGPC and Avtar Singh Makkar AISSF president Karnail Singh Peermohammed said that it was wrong on the part of the SGPC Chief to backtrack on the issue after supporting it enthusiastically.
He added that the action of the SGPC has proved that it was not independent and it has no existence of its own.
Terming Makkar’s statement as ‘’childish’’ Peermohammad said that instead of supporting filmmaker’s cause the SGPC has tried to wash off its hands off the issue.
