Ajmer Dargah Blast: Two RSS members Sentenced to Life Imprisonment by NIA Court

New Delhi: Two members of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are convicted today by Special NIA court in connection with the Ajmer Dargah blast case of 2007.

Accused Devendra Gupta and Bhavesh Patel are sentenced to life imprisonment by the court. It also fined the convicts Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

Bhavesh Patel, Devendra Gupta and Sunil Joshi were convicted by the court on March 8 while others including Swami Aseemanand were acquitted.

Prime accused Sunil Joshi had already died under mysterious condition, notes a report in India Samvad.

The conviction was made under Sections 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy), 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of IPC, 3 / 4 of Explosive Substances Act and Sections 16 and 18 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The blast on October 11, 2007 in the Dargah of Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti at the time of Roza Iftaar had left three pilgrims dead and 15 injured.
