Milpitas, US (January 08, 2014): American Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (AGPC) celebrated the Parkash Gurpurab Guru Gobind Singh with religious fervor and devotion.

The religious functions were organized at Gurudwara Sahib Fremont and Gurdwara Sahib Singh Sabha Milpitas CA.

Newly formed American Sikh Congressional Caucus co-chairman Hon Congressman David Valadao was the special guest who promised to take up the issues relating the Sikh community at rightful platforms.

While congratulating the Sikh panth on the occasion, he asked the Sikhs to live the life of universal brotherhood and peace as per the Guru Sahib’s teachings.

He said Guru Sahib had fought for the protection of the human rights and worked for the upliftment of the downtrodden and those less fortunate.

AGPC official Pritpal Singh informed that Congressman David Valadao assured them to take up the issues of recruitment of the Sikhs in US defence forces, separate records of the Sikh community in the US census, stopping of the hate crime against the Sikhs and recording the incidents of the hate crime separately from the incidents of other crimes by the police agencies.

“We are committed to resolve all the issues being faced by the community. The Sikhs are part and parcel of the US society and we want them to be safe and secure and resolve their matters relating recruitment and discrimination”, said Valadao in a statement issued on Jan. 07.
