Chandigarh: It is learnt that the Amritsar district police on Tuesday (June 13) released a Sikh youth named Daljit Singh after keeping him in illegal custody several days.
Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwale leader Ranjit Singh released this information in a written press release. He said that Daljit Singh alias Bobby was facing a sedition case and he had returned to Punjab from Kashmir to attend court hearing in this case.
Ranjit Singh said that Daljit Singh was picked up by Gurdaspur police on 10th June at around 7 PM from village Bhalla (Gurdaspur) based residence of his relatives.
His parents ran pillar to post for four days continuously to know the whereabouts of their son but all was in vain.
Ranjit Singh told SSN over phone that Daljit Singh’s father Harbhajan Singh his paternal uncle Harpinder Singh along with SYFB leaders met police commissioner S S Shrivastava at Amritsar to know the whereabouts of Daljit Singh.
”When we approached the Gurdaspur police in this regard they directed us to go and inquire with Amritsar police in this regard. Amritsar police further without paying any heed towards our plea directed us to inquire about Daljit Singh Bobby either with Nawanshahr, Mohali or Gurdaspur district police respectively” said Ranjit Singh.
”Even after tracing the whereabouts of Daljit Singh Bobby with four district police all our search efforts were proving out to be futile as the police authorities didn’t gave any information as to on what charges or under which case was Daljit Singh Bobby was apprehended”, he added.
According to the given inputs after scrutinising his Facebook account he was taken to Chandigarh Daljit Singh Bobby was interrogated about his alleged acquaintances with the recently appended Sikh youths and a Women by the Punjab police from Mohali. His involvement with the ongoing tussle with pro-hindutva outfit Shiv Sena will also be probed.
The police released Daljit Singh on Tuesday evening. SYFB has extended thanks to media sections who helped in finding whereabouts of Daljit Singh and securing his release from illegal police custody.
