Chandigarh: Punjab and Haryana High Court today installed interim stay on single judge’s bench directing cremation of dead body of controversial godman and Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan (DJJS) head Ashutosh.
Single judge bench of High Court on December 02 had directed Punjab government to secure cremation of dead body of Ashutosh with in fifteen days, ending on Dec. 17. Ashutosh had reportedly died on January 29, 2014. The decision of single judge bench was challenged before division bench of High Court by plaintiff Dulip Kumar Jha, who claims himself to be son of Ashutosh, and respondent Noormehal Dera. Punjab government had also petitioned the high court in this case after 02 December decision.
The High Court today installed interim stay and fixed 09 February as next date of hearing in this matter.
Ashutosh’s son is claiming that his father has been murdered where as the Dera management is maintaining that the controversial godman is in Samadhi (deep meditation) and may rise from Samadhi anytime. Dera management is keeping Ashutosh’s body in freezer.
