Patiala (November 01, 2011): In a statement released over the website of SSF, the students body pointed out that November 1984 genocidal violence against Sikhs fulfils the definitional criteria of “Crimes against Humanity” under international law, thus it was undoubtedly an international crimes.
Toronto, Canada (September 19, 2011): Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) a human rights advocacy group which is spearheading the justice campaign for the victims of November 1984 announced that on November 1, 2011 a “Genocide Motion” will be brought in the Canadian Parliament. The Motion will debate whether organized killing of Sikhs in India during November 1984 was “Genocide” as defined in Article 2 of the UN Convention on Genocide.
New Delhi (August 10, 2011): The Government of Maharashtra must ensure a thorough and fair inquiry into deaths during a protest by farmers, Amnesty International said today, after at least three people were killed when police fired on the demonstration on a highway in western India.
Chandigarh (July 30, 2011): As per certain media reports the Gurdwara Election Commission on Friday notified 40 election symbols for various parties. An Express News Service (ENS) report adds that notification fixing dates for various stages of the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee elections would be issued on August 4, when the process of nominations would start. The Central Government of India has already fixed the date of poll as 18th September, 2011.

Fatehgarh Sahib (July 06, 2011): Fatehgarh Sahib has turned to be first district of Punjab to fully and firmly stand up in favour of clemency for Professor Devinderpal Singh Bhullar. All the 428 village Panchayats and four municipal councils, besides 57 other recognized bodies in the district have adopted resolutions seeking clemency for Prof. Bhullar. Jalandhar (May 27, 2011): Various Sikh groups today joined hands to hand over ultimatum to SGPC to lay down the foundation stone of June 1984 memorial before June 6 lest the Sikh Sangat would do so on its own and the date for the same would be announced on 6th at Akal Takht.
Nabha (May 14, 2011): A youth leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) and former President of Sikh Students Federation, Mandhir Singh, got released on bail from Maximum security jail Nabha today. Bail was granted to Mandhir Singh on last Wednesday by Mansa Court upon failure of prosecution to file chargesheet against him with in specified statutory limit of 90 days. Panch Pardhani is led by Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu, who is currently lodged in Amritsar Jail, allegedly for political reasons.
New York (April 25, 2011): In a statement issued by Human Rights Watch, an international human rights body, it is said that the Indian government should ensure that those responsible for newly discovered massacres of Sikhs in 1984 are brought to justice, Human Rights Watch said today.
