Chandigarh (October 22, 2013): According to media reports Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), also called Badal Dal, president and Deputy chief minister of Punjab Sukhbir Badal has said that his party would filed its own candidate from Patiala constituency for Indian Parliamentary elections that are due in 2014.

It is notable that Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, who is facing death sentence in Punjab CM Beant Singh’s assassination case, has announced his sister Kamaldeep Kaur as independent candidate from Patiala constituency.

It is notable that Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana had supported Badal Dal led by Sukhbir Badal in last general elections of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) that were held in 2011. In some of his letters Bhai Rajoana had termed Sukhbir Badal as de-facto leader of the Sikh nation; however in some of his letters he had criticized the Akali leadership without naming anyone.

It is further notable that Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) led by S. Simranjeet Singh Mann has already declared that it shall field it’s candidates from all Lok Sabha seats in Punjab while ruling out any alliance with Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana’s candidate.
