Moga, Punjab (June 13, 2014) : The Delhi tour of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has been inviting controversy after controversy. In such another bid, senior Badal has requested India’s Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to re-impose notification issued by earlier NDA government on October 8, 2003.
At the one side he want to stop Haryana government from forming separate SGPC committee for Haryana by amending All India Gurdwara Act, on the other side, Badal want to deprive “Sehjdhari” Sikhs from casting their votes in SGPC elections by imposing notification issued by earlier NDA government.
While meeting India’s Home minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi, Parkash Singh Badal demanded him to impose notification issued by earlier NDA government on October 8, 2003 after bringing a bill in Lok Sabha in the next session to make it law.
While opposing Badal’s move, President of Sehjdhari Sikh Federation Paramjit Singh Ranu asked Bhartiya Janta Party not to divide Sikhs by amending the Gurdwara Act. It is surprising that BJP is going to entertain the demand of Badal Dal, which has only four MPs in Lok Sabha.
“I am fighting for the right for last 11 years while Punjab and Haryana High Court had refused this notification as it was dealing as depriving of more than half of the Sikhs from their right of voting. The matter is pending in Supreme Court of India”, said Paramjit Ranu.
