Badal Sarkar Misusing State Machinery and Throttling Religious Rights of Sikhs

Amritsar: Dal Khalsa today strongly condemned BadalsĀ led Punjab government for ordering the massive crackdown on activists, illegal banning of Sikh congregation at Talwandi Sabo on Nov 10 and creating fear psychosis in the minds of people.

Party head Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema, ex-president Bhai H S Dhami and spokesperson S. Kanwar Pal Singh said the government was misusing the state machinery and throttling the religious rights of Sikhs.

They said even if theirs group has principled differences and disagreements on issues with organizers of Sarbat Khalsa, they strongly believe that the organizers have right to hold or convene any religious gathering peacefully. We stand by their rights irrespective of our disagreements, they said.

They said there was no legal reason to ban the Sikh congregation. They said Badals want to create bogey of unrest to reap political dividends.

They blamed Badals for belittling the aura and respect of Akal Takhat, undermining the concept of Hukamnama and now BadalsĀ are hell bent to give bad name to Sarbat Khalsa institution. They said by obeying illegal orders of the present day government, the police hierarchy was killing the letter and spirit of the law.

AISSF acting president Karnail Singh Peermohammad said the climate of fear build by state machinery clearly speaks of its moral defeat. Sikh Federation UK leader Amrik Singh Gill said the government has shown its ugly face by detaining panthic activists at mass level with no fault of them.
