Amritsar, Punjab (September 10, 2013): In a statement sent to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) the Sikh body Dal Khalsa has fired a salvo against Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal for showering praises in favour of his Gujarat counterpart Narendar Modi- a person responsible for eviction of Sikh farmers and mass-killings of Muslims in 2002.

Badal, while participating at Vibrant Gujarat Global Agricultural Summit, described Modi as “desh ka mahan neta” (great national leader) and as “Sardar Modi”.

In a statement party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said Badal has gone too low to prove his loyalty in the eyes of Hindutva powers.

The Dal Khalsa leader was of the view that Badal should have skipped the event to register his protest against the uprooting of Sikh farmers.

He said it was ironic that the Hindutva influence over the one-time political party of the Sikhs has corrupted the Shiromani Akali Dal beyond repair. He said the SAD and its extension counter SGPC are damaged goods and what little can be salvaged from them cannot be saved as long as the tumour of Hindutva is attached and sucking the life out of them.

Blaming the mainstream political parties for stoking communal fire that have triggered clashes in Muzaffarnagar (UP), he said 31 innocent lives have lost, which is unfortunate and painful. He said, “communal elements have kept the pot boiling in UP for their own vested interests. They have flared up communal passions to derive maximum mileage in the forthcoming parliament elections.”
