Jalandhar/New Delhi, Punjab/India (January 23, 2013): All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) and Bibi Jagdish Kaur, prime witness against Sajjan Kumar, have asked Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal to move a resolution in the Vidhan Sabha to recognize November 1984 killing of Sikhs as “Genocide”.
Since Badal Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal is once again using the issue of denial of justice and inadequate rehabilitation to the victims of November 1984 to garner votes in Delhi Gurudwara elections, Karnail Singh Peermohammad, AISSF chief stated that SAD (Badal) who has majority in Punjab assembly should move a Sikh Genocide Resolution in “Vidhan Sabha” (State Assembly).
“Badal Dal has used the issue of November 1984 to gain votes in every election since 1997 and after winning the elections always abandoned and ignored the issue but now we will demand accountability from SAD (Badal)”, added Peermohammad.
AISSF president stated that SAD (Badal) has number of members in the Parliament but none of them have raised the issue of denial of justice to the Sikh community rather when it comes to giving impunity to those who organized killing of Sikhs, SAD (Badal) follows the same policy as practiced by the Congress (I).
Bibi Jagdish Kaur whose image is being used along with other victims by SAD (Badal) in Delhi Gurudwara election campaign questioned CM Badal to show to the community any rehabilitation package that has been granted by SAD (Badal) for the victims of November 1984. If CM Badal and Sukhbir Badal are sincere regarding the well being of victims of 1984, they should announce a rehabilitation package before the Delhi Gurudwara elections and should pass a Sikh Genocide Resolution.
Sri Akal Takhat Sahib has recognized the organized and systematic killing of Sikhs throughout India during November 1984 as “Genocide” and have issued directive that the Sikh community should not use the term ‘Anti-Sikh Riots” for November 1984.
