Bhai Dhian Singh Mand calls for Punjab Bandh on November 23; Police remand extended again

Amritsar: A local court today extended the police remand of Bhai Dhian Singh Mand for three days today. As per information the police took a plea that they require custody of Bhai Mand in order to identify his alleged accomplices.

The district police had made heavy arrangements in wake of today’s court appearance.

While talking his lawyer Bhai Dhian Singh Mand reportedly called upon the people of Punjab to enforce shut down Punjab on November 23. He reportedly said that people of Punjab should shut down Punjab in order to protest against Punjab government’s failure to arrest culprits responsible for beadbi of Guru Grnath Shaib.

It is notable that the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) has announced to hold a “Sadbhawna Rally” at Bathinda on November 23.

Bhai Dhian Singh, who was declared to be acting Jathedar of Akal Takhat Sahib at the Sarbat Khalsa 2015 gathering at Chabba village on Nov. 10, is facing two cases filed. First case was field by the Punjab police at Chattiwind police station under the law of sedition (124-A IPC) besides some other sections of IPC and UAPA. The second case was registered at Amritsar on the complaint of SGPC in relation to Bhai Dhian Singh Mand’s address from Akal Takhat Sahib on Bandi Chhor Divas (Nov. 11).
