A trial court in Delhi today acquitted Sikh political prisoner Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara in 2005 Liberty Cinema blast case. The case was registered under FIR number 229/05 at Alipur police station. Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara and others were named as "accused" in this case.

Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara acquitted in 2005 Arms and Explosives recovery case

New Delhi: A trial court in Delhi today acquitted Sikh political prisoner Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara in 2005 arms and explosive recover case registered by the Delhi police. The case was registered under FIR number 229/05 at Alipur police station after Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara’s arrest on June 8, 2005.

Bhai Jagtar Singh was facing charges under section 186, 307 and 353 of IPC, sections 3, 4, 5 of Explosives Act and 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act in this case.

The trail court acquitted Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara in this case today. Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara’s council Advo. Maninder Singh told SSN over phone that the police had show arrest of Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara from Delhi whereas he was arrested from Patiala in Punjab. The had shown massive arms and explosives recovery from Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, which was proved to be planted in during the trial.

“The court disagreed with the kind of investigation done by the police and found that the case was planted, therefore the court dismissed the case”, said Advocate Maninder Singh.

(NOTE: Earlier it was reported that the case pertained to Liberty Cinema blast but upon contacting Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara’s lawyer, the Sikh Siyasat News found that the case this was a different case registered after the arrest of Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara.)
