Chandigarh: It is learnt that Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara had given a letter to his father Gurcharan Singh at Tihar Jail in Delhi on January 8. The letter contained the names of five members of a panel which will invite Panthic leaders to discuss and decide the further course of action to pursue the Sikh agenda.
The letter (written in Gurmukhi/Panjabi) says:
“As the Sikh Sangat know that after the ending of Bargari Morcha there is disappointment amongst the Sikh Sanagat and controversy among Jathedar Sahibs. In this situation, understanding the responsibility endowed upon me by the Sarbat Khalsa, with the grace of Guru Sahib and in the light of Panthic tradition I am trying to bring the Panth out of this confusion. As a prelimnary step I have formed a five member ad hoc committee which will soon hold a meeting of Panthic representatives to chalk out the future strategy.
Following will be the members of this committee
(1) senior lawyer S. Amar Singh Chahal (2) Bhai Naraiyan Singh Chaura (3) Editor Bhai Jaspal Singh Heiran (4) Prof. Baljinder Singh (5) Master Bhai Santokh Singh Dabaanwala.
In may absence this ad hoc committee will invite Panthic personalities, and hold a meeting of such personalities. The next course of struggle will be decided in this meeting after holding thorough discussions.”
The letter is dated on 8 January, 2019. A Punjabi vernacular had raised doubts over the letter but in response to that news report, Bhai Narnain Singh Chaura maintained that the letter was authentic as he could identify the style and handwriting of Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara.
The ad hoc committee has announced to hold the meeting at Chandigarh on January 27.
