Bhai Lakhwinder Singh Lakha urges Punjab government to release Sikh political prisoners

Patiala, Punjab: Bhai Lakhwinder Singh Lakha, who was sentenced to imprisonment for life in Punjab CM Beant Singh case and who is currently bailed out on parole, visited Guru Nanak Nagar in Patiala on November 16.

Bhai Lakhwinder Singh is currently staying in Ludhiana with his sister. He visited Patiala to see the place where he had spent his childhood in Guru Nanak Nagar.

Lakhwinder Singh Lakha has reportedly been given 12 security guards by Ludhiana police.

Bhai Lakhwinder Singh Lakha India has dual standards of law and Sikh political prisoners were being subjected to discrimination in India. He said that prisoners with life sentences are generally released in India after serving 14 years in prison but the Sikh political prisoners, including himself, were not being released even after spending more than twenty years in prison.

He urged Punjab government to positively process the cases for permanent release of Sikh political prisoners who have already served minimum mandatory terms of their sentences.

Bhai Lakhwinder Singh was accompanied by his sisters Paramjeet Kaur and Sukhwinder Kaur and his brother in law Jang Singh.
