Patna: As per reports emanating from Bihar, the state assembly today unanimously passed a resolution not to implement the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the state.

NITISH ON NRC:

“National Register of Citizens (NRC) bogey being raised despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s categorical statement that NRC is not on anvil,” Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was quoted as saying by a news agency.

RESOLUTION PASSED TO IMPLEMENT NRP IN 2010 FORM:

The Bihar Assembly also passed a resolution to implement the National Population Register (NPR) in its 2010 form.

NITISH SEEKS OMISSION:

Nitish Kumar said his government has written to the Centre “seeking omission of contentious clauses from NPR forms.”

NRP/CAA/NRC:

Many political observers opine that National Population Register (NRP), Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) are part of the same process which would ultimately lead to mass stripping of people from citizenship and their disenfranchisement.
