Patiala/ Fatehgarh Sahib: Former deputy speaker of Punjab Bir Devinder Singh has criticised BJP MP R. K. Singh for linking today’s Gurdaspur Attack to the Sikhs.
A written statement released by Bir Devinder Singh in this regard reads as follows:
Mr. N.K Singh Former Home Secretary Govt. Of India and now BJP MP must not attribute the the Dina Nagar terrorist attack on police station to Sikh militants, without authenticated verification. Everybody should exercise utmost restraint and must wait till the Home Minister make categorical statement on the issue. Half baked suspicious and sensational statement should not be made by unauthorised persons on such a sensitive issue, which has the potential to trigger chain reactions. Therefore it’s completely ingenuous and preposterous on the part of Mr. N.K Singh to unnecessarily drag the name of the Sikh community in the matter. I unequivocally condemn this dastardly and barbaric act of the militants to kill innocent civilians and police personnels.
Notably R.K Singh, while giving out his reactions on Times Now tv this morning, attributed the Gurdaspur attack to Sikh Militants coordinated by the ISI (Inter Services Intelligence Agency of Pakistan)
Meanwhile some Indian TV channels, Zee News in specific, also tried to link Gurdaspur attack to the Sikh movement of 1980s-90s. Such claims were made by BJP politicians and Indian media without presenting even an iota of evidence to support their claims.
