Kannur, Kerala: As per media reports the police on Sunday seized six swords and a knife from the house of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker who died in a bomb blast in a suspected accidental explosion near Koothuparamba while handling explosives on Saturday night.
“The weapons were seized from the house of the deceased BJP worker T. Deeshith at Kottayampoil during a raid by the police team headed by Thalassery Deputy Superintendent Prince Abraham. The police said that the weapons were found during a search in the house which was damaged in the blast. The youth had been fatally injured in the explosion that occurred in the house around 7.30 p.m. on Saturday”, notes The Hindu.
According to Daijiworld, “it is suspected that Deekshith was preparing the country bomb at home”.
The upstairs room where the blast occurred was damaged, the police said.
Deeshith had sustained serious burns on his face and his hands were nearly severed in the blast, the police said, adding that the nature of the injuries raised suspicion that the blast occurred while making crude bombs or handling explosives.
Deeshith was the son of a local BJP leader who had contested in the election to the Kottayam panchayat.
