Toronto, Canada (November 24, 2013): Sikh scholar and historian S. Ajmer Singh’s much discussed book on the historiography of Gadhar Movement was released in Toronto on November 16, 2013 during a book release function that was attended by more than 500 persons. The book titled “ਗਦਰੀ ਬਾਬੇ ਕੌਣ ਸਨ? ਅਨਮਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਕੂੜ ਦਾਅਵਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਖੰਡਨ” (Gadhri Babie Kaun Sann – Anmattiyan De Koor Daavian Da Khandan) was released by Liberal Party MP from Scarborough-Agincourt constituency Hon. Jim Karygiannis and Jagmeet Singh is NDP MPP from Bramalea-Gore-Malton constituency.

While addressing the gathering book’s author S. Ajmer Singh highlighted the fact that Punjab leftists and Indian nationalists who wrote the history of the Gadhar movement had largely distorted it. These historians deliberately attempted to hide the fact Gadhris were Sikhs and their source of inspiration was the Sikh values and the Sikh tradition. These historians dishonestly tempered the poems and other writings of the Gadhris and thereby excluded those parts that showed that Gadhirs’ Sikh spirit.
