British Sikh Judge Appointed To UK Court Of Appeal

London:  As per the media reports a British Sikh judge becomes the first from the Indian sub-continent to be promoted to one of the senior-most posts in the UK judicial system.

Rabinder Singh is one of seven new judges to occupy the seven-member UK Court of Appeal after new judicial appointments were unveiled by the UK government this week. The 53-year-old High Court judge known for his characteristic white dastaar in court was born in Delhi before his family moved to the UK, media reports said.

Further,ore, after winning a scholarship to Bristol’s most prestigious school he went on to study law at both trinity  College, Cambridge University.

After that he studied at the University of California at Berkeley, graduating with a Masters in Law in 1986.

The other new appeal court judges along with Singh are Justice Asplin, Justice Coulson, Justice Holroyde, Justice Peter Jackson, Justice Leggatt and Justice Newey, notes The Tribune (TT).
