Bathinda, Punjab: A complaint has been filed in a local court at Bhatinda against BJP MLA from Indore Usha Thakur for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of Sikhs by wearing Kirpan (Sikhs’ sword) without being an Amritdhari Sikh.

The complaint in this regard has been filed by Baba Hardip Singh, Bhai Baljinder Singh (Ek Noor Khalsa Fauj) and Bhai Surinder Singh Nathana.

Counsel for complainants, H. S. Khara said that they have demanded to register a case under sections 295 A and 298 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the BJP leader for hurting religious sentiments of Sikhs by wearing a Kirpan during a function in Indore this month.

The complaint has been filed on the basis of photos of BJP leader wearing Kirpan in public functions published in newspapers. The court of chief judicial magistrate fixed October 4 as the next date of hearing and shifted the matter in court of judicial magistrate first class Manpreet Kaur.

The controversial BJP MLA is in news these days for calling for a ban on entry of Muslim youths in Garba festivals’ venues as part of fight against ‘love jihad’ and saying that identity cards of those entering these venues should be checked to make sure that Muslim youths do not enter these venues.
