Crisis at Sikh Gurudwara Wisconsin, USA continue; police says one gunman “put down”

Ludhiana (August 5, 2012): The shoot-out crisis at Sikh Gurudwara Wisconsin, USA continues as the police operation against “shooters” is ongoing, though the shoot is said to have paused at the time of writing this news. According to reports the local police has confirmed that it has “put down” one of the shooters. As per reports injured are admitted to the nearest hospitals.

“The spokesman said one suspect had been shot, but another gunman might still be on the loose inside the temple” reports BBC.

“This is an ongoing and very fluid situation,” a police spokesman is reported to have told BBC.

Local police said that a call had been made to them at about 10:30 local time (15:30 GMT).

US media is tight-lipped regarding the apparent nature of attack. Media is using the simple term of “shooters” and avoiding the term “terrorist” for the people who fired bullets on innocent worshippers.

Meanwhile, the worldwide Sikh community is praying for the safety of people caught up in the crisis.

One police officer is also said to have received shot injuries.
