Bhatinda: Accusing the Delhi police for unleashing violence on Jamia students, the Dal khalsa extended its support and solidarity with protesters and their cause.

Dal Khalsa’s Vice President Baba Hardeep Singh Mehraj and working committee member Gurvinder Singh said the Delhi police, which comes under Union Home ministry has shown barbarism while dealing with students, who were protesting against Citizenship Amendment Act. Rejecting the amendments in the act, they said any law that targets one particular religion was bad in taste.

Slamming the police for taking law into their hands, they sought explanation from Home Minister Amit Shah.

They said the visuals of police chasing girls and boys in library and washrooms, dragging them from homes, abusing women journalists and thrashing one and all mercilessly have stunned and shamed the society. Where was the country heading towards under Modi-Shah combination, they wondered?

They termed the present BJP Govt as fascist and autocratic in approach. The officials in the ministry, who gave permission to the police to enter the campus must be held accountable for violating norms as the university VC has clarified that the police hasn’t sought any permission from University authorities before entering the campus.

They said the police have perfected the art of unleashing terror in public and political leadership is solely to blame for it as the latter has failed in reinforcing the rule of law.
