Chandigarh:- Dal Khalsa, a Sikh body known for having ties with ethnic minorities and struggling nationalities in the Indian sub-continent, has expressed deep concern and outrage over the heinous incident of sexual assault on two women from the Kuki tribal community in Manipur.

In a sharp reaction to the brutal act, the organization has called upon all Parliamentarians to collectively bow their heads in shame for two minutes during the current house session.

Kanwar Pal Singh, senior leader of Dal Khalsa, has squarely held the Narendra Modi government responsible for the deteriorating situation, asserting that it cannot evade accountability for the worsening state of affairs.

The Dal Khalsa leader drew attention to the alarming trend of rape being used as an instrument to shame, insult, and hurt the collective psyche of oppressed minority communities. He strongly believe that such reprehensible acts are only made possible with the support, connivance of the local administration and people in positions of power.

On Manipur shame, he blamed inaction of the Manipur government, disrespect for tribal communities in general and the overarching climate of hate and abuse built by the ruling Bharatiya Janta Party over the past few years.

The Dal Khalsa has urged the Indian parliamentarians to address the underlying issues of polarisation and divisiveness that foster an environment conducive to such despicable acts.

Kanwar Pal Singh highlighted that while this particular incident may be new, it adds to a distressing pattern of similar incidents in the past. He cited the dishonouring of Sikh women during the 1984 Sikh massacre in Delhi, the abuse and assault suffered by Muslim women during the Gujarat riots in 2002, and earlier similar incidents in Manipur and other parts of the NorthEast.
