New Delhi/ Banagakore The Noida police have reportedly got input that a member of Aam Aadmi Party whose burnt body was recovered from his car in Greater Noida about three months ago is alive. Police suspects that death of Chandra Mohan Sharma was staged and he according to police information he could be in Bangalore or Nepal.
After his burnt body was found in his car, Sharma’s family had demanded a CBI probe and Aam Aadmi Party, too, had called for a detailed and fair investigation.
Police have sent teams to Karnataka and Nepal and its bordering areas after reports that Chandra Mohan Surta was spotted there.
“We are still in the process of verifying the input of him being alive. We have not made any arrests yet,” SSP Preetinder Singh said.
Meanwhile, Sharma’s wife said that he was suspected to be living with a woman.
According to Hindustan Times (HT), the activist’s wife, Savita Sharma, said the police had unofficially confirmed the tip-off was true. She, too, said she believed Sharma had faked his death.
The mystery deepens with the police also looking afresh into the identity of the burnt body in the car. They had sent it for DNA testing right after the incident but are still waiting for the results.
Savita Sharma said the police had put a trace on her husband’s mobile phone and found vital leads to his whereabouts. “There was a young woman in our locality who was in touch with my husband. She used to contact him on his private number, which was known to only a few people. After a month of his death she also went missing,” Savita said.
“From the call logs, the police traced their movements to Karnataka” she said.
