Ludhiana: All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF – Peermohammad) and victims of November 1984 Sikh genocide asked the Punjab Government to recognize 1984 genocidal massacres of the Sikhs as “Genocide”. A resolution was sent to Parkash Singh Badal, Punjab Chief Minister “to recognize the intentional, deliberate and systematic killing of Sikhs in India during November 1984 as “Genocide” as defined under the laws of the United States and UN Convention”.
Bibi Gurdeep Kaur who returned from the United States after submitting a report “November 1984 Sikh Genocide” to the UN Human rights council, NY, stated that “If a remote city in America can pass a resolution declaring 1984 violence against Sikhs as Genocide, Punjab government headed by Badal must pass the same resolution as SAD (Badal) has sought votes in elections on 1984 issue.”
On November 10, in the presence of hundreds of the members of the Sikh community, Harvey, a city from President Obama’s home state listened patiently to the testimony of Gurdeep Kaur and Jasbir Singh about genocidal nature of 1984 anti Sikh violence. Gurdeep Kaur and Jasbir Singh gave account of how they witnessed Congress leaders leading death squads carrying voter lists, police and Delhi administration turning a blind eye on the broad day light killing of Sikh men and rape of Sikh women after the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Gurdeep Kaur, whose husband is on death bed since 1984 travelled from Ludhiana to submit report to the UN Human Rights council and to give testimony before the City of Council of Harvey. Jasbir Singh Delhi who is resident of California is a prime witness in Tytler’s case.
Urging the Punjab Government to recognize 1984 anti Sikh violence as “Genocide”, Karnail Singh Peermohammad stated it is unfortunate that violence against Sikhs was not only covered up but perpetrators were also not punished. The issue of justice for the victims of 1984 has been politicized by all political party’s to get the votes, now is the time that after 30 years SAD (Badal) should come forward and declare the anti-sikh violence as “Genocide”.
“We will approach MLA’s of all political party’s to be the voice of victims and support “Genocide” resolution” added Peermohammad.
The November 1984 Sikh Genocide Resolution passed by the City of Harvey is the first of its kind where rights groups “Sikhs For Justice” (SFJ) has directly approached the American voters to support victim’s quest for justice and community’s effort for recognition of anti Sikh violence as Genocide. SFJ plans to get such resolutions by city council in each of the fifty states as a foundation for taking the matter to the US Congress. Sikh group is planning to table the Sikh Genocide Resolution before the US Congress in November 2015.
