Dera Sirsa Premis, Sikh Clash in Makhu; Police FIR against 25 Sikh Activists

Ferozepur: A ‘charcha’ event organised by Dera Sauda Sirsa followers at Makhu town of Zira sub-division in Ferozepur district on Sunday led to a brawl among the Sikh activists and Dera followers.

As reported by the media the police has registered a case against 25 activist, but no one of was arrested.

While referring to its local sources media reports say that  Raj Kumar, a dera follower, had organised ‘Nam Charcha’, at railway colony in Makhu, 58 km from Ferozepur, on Sunday morning.

However, the local Sikh activists, led by Dilbhag Singh of ‘Ek Noor Khalsa Fauj’, reached the spot and opposed the holding of the event by dera followers.

Both groups also raising slogans against each other, leading to heated exchanges between them. The police which were present on the venue since morning, then jumped into action and pacified the two groups. The clash did not turn violent, says reports.

Whilst talking to Hindustan Times  (HT) Ferozepur SSP Gaurav Garg said a case was registered against 25 Sikh activists under section 295 (defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class), 506 (criminal intimidation) 427 (mischief causing damage), 148 and 149 (rioting) of the IPC. He said a probe was on and no one had been arrested so far.
