London, United Kingdom (March 27, 2013): As per information available with Sikh Siyasat News (SSN), eight cinemas across England and Scotland are going to screen Sadda Haq Punjabi movie, that is scheduled to be released on April 05, 2013. The movie is based on events of 1980-90s in Punjab depicting many incidents of recent Sikh history.

It is notable the people of Punjab, especially the Sikhs, were engaged in struggle against unitary rule of Indian state and it’s discriminatory policies against Punjab and and the Sikhs since 1947.

After June 1984 attack on Sri Darbar Sahib by Indian army and November 1984 Sikh genocide, the Sikh youth took up arms out of existential concerns against the Indian state.

Post-1984 to mid-1990s period witnessed Sikh armed movement in Punjab against tyrant state system that had encroached over people’s basic rights and liberties. During this period the state had unleashed the terror on civilian Sikh population of Punjab besides the family members of Sikh militants – police atrocities and human rights violations, including enforced disappearances, torture, custodial deaths and fake encounters were common phenomena during this period.

Sadda Haq movie is based on events of this period and attempt to present the reality on screen.

According to Dinesh Sood, co-producer of Sadda Haq, the movie shall clear many misconceptions embedded by media propaganda in the minds of a particular section of people through vilified propaganda.

As per information the movie – Sadda Haq – is getting overwhelming response overseas.
