Gippey Grewal supports Sadda Haq; Urges Punjab Govt. to lift ban from the movie

Chandigarh/ Punjab (April 16, 2013): Punjabi singer-cum-actor Gippy Grewal has urged the Punjab government to lift the ban from Punjabi movie Sadda Haq. The movie was banned in Punjab – the home state of the producer Kuljinder Sidhu and Dinesh Sood on late night of April 4, just hours before it’s release. Later the movie was also banned in Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh.

The movies is based on post-1984 to mid-1990s events in Punjab, and depicts the untold story of the period that witnessed mass level human rights abuses by Indian security forces and Punjab police against civilian Sikh population.

As per Times of India (TOI): “[a]mid achieving huge international success, Punjabi film ‘Sadda Haq’ remains banned in Punjab, a decision made by the government of Punjab. Punjabi star Gippy Grewal has publicly come forward to ask for the ban to be removed”.

Having released worldwide April 5th, Punjabi film Sadda Haq has achieved huge success in cinemas across the globe, with screenings in Canada, America & UK being sold out on consecutive nights.

Gippy Grewal has appeared in a short video clip produced by OXL productions and the Sikh Channel, in which he appeals to the Punjab government to lift the ban from the movie so that the people of Punjab could watch the movie.
