Chandigarh: There are reports that a new Punjabi song video “Zaalam” by Punjabi singer cum actor Gippy Grewal has eventually been banned in India, as the Censor Board has refused to clear it for telecast in Indian subcontinent. However, the song is available on YouTube and other sites on internet.

Gippy Grewal in one of updates to his facebook fans said “ZAALAM song nu censor ne pass nahi kita khende eh nahi ho sakda”. (Censor Board has refused to clear Zaalam song. (Censor Board) says it could not be cleared).

Reacting to a Punjab Congress leader’s statement demanding registration of a police case against Gippy Grewal, Punjabi singer said “Te aa hun koi mere te parcha karan nu phirda khenda galat song gaiya. Ajj pata lagiya ke kayi lok Sach sun na hi nahi chounde”. (Now a person want to chargesheet me saying that I sung a wrongful song. Today (I) realized how some people do not want to listen the truth)”.

I am thankful to all who liked this song. I request all those to listen the song carefuly again who did not like it, added Gippy Grewal. (“Jinna nu changa lagiya ohna da DHANWAD te jinna nu nahi lagiya ohna nu keh riha ek war dubara dekho dhiyan naal”).

It is notable that Gippy Grewal’s latest Punjabi song video “Zaalim” depicts the life of a Sikh youth who aspires to be a soldier, but strays onto the path of armed struggle due to police atrocities.

A message in Punjabi reads: “Kdo ditta insaaf adaltan ne, jholi adeya assa nu ajj tkk loko; lammi umar ton udeek ithe faisle di, mangi bheekh nhi mangey c hakk loko; nakk ragdeya milan na hakk ethey painda bhan-na hakk layi nakk loko.”
