Gurdaspur woman sets herself on fire outside CM Parkash Badal’s residence

Chandigarh: A woman set herself ablaze in front of Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal’s residence in Chandigarh on Friday.

A woman, identified as Gurpreet Kaur of Gurdaspur, reportedly set herself ablaze in front of the official residence of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at around 9 am today.

She was rushed to Government Multi-Speciality Hospital in Sector 16, Chandigarh soon after the incident. She is reported to have suffered around 20-30% burns. Though there is no official information in this regard so far, she is said to be out of danger.

Gurpreet Kaur, who hails from Gurdaspur district, reportedly came to the chief minister’s residence and wanted to meet him. Security personals deployed outside Badal’s resident did not allow her to meet the CM.

A police officer said the woman has been trying to meet Badal for the last few days and took the step as she was unable to do so.

However, it is yet not known for what she had been coming to CM residence.
