Haryana Government withholds findings of Garg commission report

Chandigarh: Garg Commission was appointed by the Haryana Government to probe the Hondh Chillar massacre of 2 November 1984. The commission submitted its report to the BJP led Haryana government about a month ago.

But Monohar Lal Khattar led BJP government in Haryana is sitting over the report and it’s findings are not yet made public.

After receiving the Garg Commission report, Haryana’s chief minister Manohar Lal Khatar announced compensation to the victim families but he didn’t share the information about or findings of the Garg Commission report.

The Haryana government has been withholding information about cause of this massacre, names of accused culprits, negligence of the then Government and the action plans to control such massacres in future, as it might have been provided in Garg Commission’s report.

Representatives of ‘Hondh Chillar Correspondence Committee’, Er. Manvinder Singh Giaspura and Bhai Darshan Singh Gholia said that they have sent a request to H for meeting to get a copy of report from him to make it public.

It may be recalled that the Hondh Chillar Massacre was part of Sikh Genocide of November 1984 in which a Sikh village named Hondh Chillar was completely destroyed by genocidaries and 32 Sikhs were killed. The massacre remained undisclosed till 2011, when a Sikh engineering unearthed the brutal episode.
