Chandigarh/ Punjab (September 03, 2013): According to information extended to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) by Bhai Mandhir Singh, Secretary of Shiromani Akali Dal Panch Pardhani (SAD-PP) the Punjab and Haryana High Court has deferred the hearing of bail plea of Bhai Daljit Singh in Jalandhar (2012) case till October 09, 2013.

This case was originally registered against UK citizen Jaswant Singh Azad in September 2012, and the name of Bhai Daljit Singh attached in this case at a later stage.

Punjab Police has invoked Arms Act, Explosives Act and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), in this case which is registered for apparent political reasons.

It is notable that the Punjab police had registered a similar case against Bhai Daljit Singh in September, 2013 at Ludhiana. Punjab and Haryana High Court Judge Inderjit Singh has already granted bail to Bhai Daljit Singh in Ludhaina (2012) case.

On the last hearing of Jalandhar case the High Court had asked the government to file an affidavit giving details of alleged seditious material recovered from Bhai Daljit Singh’s house. Today (on September 13, 2013) the government filed the affidavit and the matter is fixed for next hearing on October 09.

It is notable that while granting bail in Ludhiana case the High Court had passed strong comments on prosecution case against Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu (check details).
