Chandigarh/ Haryana (July 07, 2014): According to information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN), the Haryana state assembly today began debate on a bill aimed at forming separate Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (HSGPC).
During the debate BJP legislators demanded more time to read the bill but the demand was “turned down” or opposed by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
While responding to BJP MLAs’ demand for more time to deliberate on bill, Hooda said that all should clearly declare their stand on HSGPC and there was no escape way.
Meanwhile, the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandal Committee (SGPC) has announced the formation of a “sub-committee” for Hayrana.
SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said that with the formation of sub-committee there was no need to form a separate committee (HSGPC) for Haryana.
The decision to form sub-committee for Haryana was taken by SGPC executive that had met at Chandigarh today in wake efforts of HSGPC (ad hoc) leaders to get legal nod for separate Gurdwara panel for Haryana.
