HSGPC Issue: DSGMC, Badal Dal held demonstration outside Sonia Gandhi’s house in Delhi

New Delhi, India (July 19, 2014): The officials of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and the leaders/ activists of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) Delhi unit yesterday held a demonstration outside Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s house.

The protest demonstration was led by Manjit Singh GK, president of DSGMC.

The demonstrators were accusing Sonia Gandhi and the Congress party for adopting “divide and rule” practise to divide Sikhs by creating separate Gurdwara committee for Haryana.

The protesters brandished swords and black flags in front of Congress president’s house and burned her effigy.

Those who led the demonstration included Manjider Singh Sirsa, Avtar Singh Hitt, Onkar Singh Thapar, Kuldip Singh Bhogal, Harmit Singh Kalka and Paramjit Singh Rana.

When the demonstrators attempted to break-away the barriers placed before the gate of Sonia’s house, the police resorted to use of water canon to disperse the protesters. Later the Badal Dal activists courted arrest in protest to Haryana government’s move to form HSGPC.
