India: Tamil Nadu Govt. decides to release all 7 convicts in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case

As per recent information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN( the Tamil Nadu state assembly on Wednesday (19 Feb.) unanimously adopted a resolution for the immediate release of Murugan, Perarivalan and Santhan and four others including Nalini, wife of Murugan, Ravichandran and Robert Pius.

The Tamil Nadu Government, however, decided to forward the resolution to the Centre as it is mandatory to consult the Union Government under CRPC 435.

“If the centre fails to respond in three days, we will release all of them on our own,” Chief Minister Jayalalithaa said while making a suo moto statement in the Assembly about the decision of the Tamil Nadu cabinet to release them.
