Amritsar: Sikh outfit Dal Khalsa has demanded that the print and electronic media should stop calling the killings of Sikhs in 1984 as “riots”.

Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said that Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh recently acknowledged that the massacres of Sikhs were ‘genocide’.

He said Sikhs didn’t want relief or sympathy. He said the victims wanted that the perpetrators be punished.

He said it was ironic that it took 30 years for Indian media and state denies to acknowledge that the killings were a genocide.
