Ranchi, Jharkhand, India: Work on a structure akin to Darbar Sahib (Amritsar) in Ranchi (Jharkhand) was stopped after strong protests from local Sikh sangat and Sikh organizations. The structure/ pandal was meant for placing idols of Hindu goddess Durga Mata during Navratra days.

The work on pandal was being carried for last few days but it was stopped after some local Sikhs opposed the move. Darbar Sahib (Amritsar) symbolises the Sikh religion which strictly prohibits idol worshiping.

Local Sangat posted the images of pandal on social media sites and informed Akal Takht Sahib and Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC), after which the work on pandal was stopped.

As per information the organizers of the Pandal apologized in a letter issued by Sri Sai Mandir Nav-Durga Utsav Samiti under the signatures of Ramesh Divedi.
