New Delhi: Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Candidate Manjinder Singh Sirsa has won Rajouri Garden Assembly by-poll by over 14,500 votes. Congress party candidate lasted at second place where as the Aam Aadmi Party candidates lasted at third place. Aam Aadmi Party candidate Harjeet Singh even lost his security deposit.

The Rajouri Garden seat had fell vacant after AAP MLA Jarnail Singh (journalist) resigned few months back in order to contest Punjab Assembly election against the then Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal from Lambi constituency.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa is also affiliated with Sukhbir Badal led Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) and is also holding post of General Secretary of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC).

Defeat of Harjit Singh is being considered as a major setback for the Aam Aadmi Party who had swept Delhi State Assembly elections in 2015 by winning 67 out of total 70 seats.
