Amritsar, Punjab: While asking people to introspect themselves, Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said that until the community will address their weakness and faults, the Moga like shameful incident will continue to occur.

Expressing his deep shock over the incident in which city girl Arshdeep Kaur died after being thrown out of moving bus along with her mother, he said the incident has shaken every conscious Punjabi. He said the most disturbing aspect was the insensitivity of the people at large. People have mortgaged their conscience for the want of pecuniary needs including roads, electricity and employment, he rued. “None who witness, spoke or reacted to this naked and unabashed goondaism involving the bus employees”, which was major cause of a worry”.

He also expressed his deep concern over the rising graph of the monster crimes and said that some decades back these type of evils were beyond the imagination of our society but the situation have changed and the criminal mindset is now flourishing in our society. While condemning the rising graph of crimes, he said that easy availability of the liquor and other drugs under the patronage of the government was playing a very crucial role in the increase of these crimes. Our age old traditions of modesty and chastity are being eradicated in a planed way. He said that controlling these crimes is although not possible without the help of state power but it was the responsibility of every responsible citizen, scholars and the religious parcharak’s to stand against these evils and jointly fight against it.

All tall claims of development by ruling elite turn hollows as ‘development does not mean only building malls and constructing roads and bridges”. “We must admit that morally and ethically, our society still lag behind”. He said there was no difference between the Akalis and Congressmen as the prevailing political culture adopted by both was responsible for the degradation in society.
