Chandigarh/Sonipat: Labour Activist Nodeep Kaur was released from Sonipat jail on Friday after she was granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court earlier in the day.
In the bail plea, filed through her counsel, R. S. Cheema, Arshdeep Singh Cheema and Harinder Deep Singh Bains, Nodeep Kaur had stated that she was falsely implicated in an FIR lodged under various sections, including attempt to murder, assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty and other offences under Sections 148, 149, 332, 353, 186, 384, 379-b, 307.
She was arrested by Sonipat police from Kundali Industrial Area (KIA) on January 12. She was allegedly tortured by police in custody.
Her case came into prominence after Meena Harris, niece of US vice-present Kamla Harris, tweeted a news story about her case.
