Brampton, Ontario (December 14, 2012): The Ontario Gurdwara Committee (OGC) has offered a sincere condolences on behalf of the Sikh Community to the victims and families of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting.

According to information many Gurdwaras were working very closely with elementary school children which makes the news of this tragedy that much harder to accept. Schools are meant to be a safe environment where children pursue their dreams and develop their passions, without the need to worry about their safety and security.

“As we gather today to mourn and reflect on this senseless and cowardice act of violence, the Sri Guru Singh Sabha (Malton) will dedicate tomorrow’s simran (meditation) program in remembrance of the children and victims who lost their lives in this tragedy. This prayer, as all programming in Gurdwaras, is open to everyone, regardless of faith and background” reads a statement released by OGC.

“On behalf of the Ontario Gurdwara Committee, the membership, and the Sikh community we send our sincere condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives or been injured today, in Newton, Connecticut” it reads further.
