Hoshiarpur, Punjab: A Convent School in Hoshiarpur invited outrage when it ‘punished’ students of ninth and tenth standard for wearing Dastar (Sikh turbans).

Principal of Saint Josaph Convent School located at Chandigarh road in Hoshiarpur ousted two students from ‘morning prayers’ and ‘first period (class)’ as punishment for wearing Dastars.

On becoming aware of the move, parents of the concerned Sikh students visited the school but the principal did not listen to their concerns. Parents of these Sikh students and their supporters expressed outrage over school’s decision to impose ‘ban’ of turbans.

School’s principal continued with her arrogance and refused to discuss the mater with concerned students’ parents. Officials of local police intervened in the matter and assured concerned parents that the school will not be allowed to impose any sort of ‘turban ban’ on students.
