Jagraon/ Ludhiana: Punjab police has launched a crackdown against Sikh activists in wake of continuous hunger strike by Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa. As a part of crackdown the police today arrested hundreds of Sikh activists along with Jaspal Singh Heiran, editor of Rozana Pehredar. Rozana Pehredar had announced to conduct a march from Jagraon to Ludhaina to show support for Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa and the cause of Sikh Political prisoners.
Jaspal Singh Heiran and others started march from Jagraon at around 12:30 pm. But the police did not allow them to move forward. After about half an hour scuffle the police finally arrested S. Jaspal Singh Herian and a dozen other journalists of Rozana Pehredar. Police also arrested around hundred Sikh activists who were participating in the march.
Sources told SSN that the detainees were kept at Sadar Jagraon, Sidhwan Bet and Chaukiman police stations.
While talking to reporters S. Jaspal Singh Heiran said that Punjab government was trying to create fear psychosis to snub the movement.
