Police prevents march from Bhai Bhagta to Bargari; Sikh leaders arrested

Kotkapura: The Punjab police today prevented a march from Bhagta Bhai ka to Bargari. The march was announced by the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) and the United Akali Dal (UAD) to protest against an incident of beadbi of Gurbani at Bhagta Bhai ka that took place late last month.

The police had sealed Bhagta Bhai ka and adjoining areas to prevent Sikh leaders and the Sikh Sangat from reaching Bhagta Bhaika or Bargari. As per information to Sikh leaders were not able to reach at Bhagta Bhaika to attend the bhog of Sri Akhand Paath Sahib at Gurdwara Bhootan Wala Khooh.

Sikh bodies had announced to hold the march from Gurdwara Bhootan Wala Khooh, Bhagta Bhaika to Gurdwara Sahib of village Bargari.

The police reportedly arrested Bhai Dhain Singh Mand and a jatha of Damdami Taksal Ajnala from Bhagta Bhaika.

A jatha of Sikhs from Rajasthan was arrested by the Punjab police in Lambi area.

Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal was also arrested from Talwandi Sabo along with his jatha. SAD (Amritsar) youth leader Papalpreet Singh was also arrested by the police while he was attempting to reach out at Bhagta Bhaika.

As per information SAD (Amritsar) leader Jaskaran Singh KhahnSinghWala along with some other persons was able to reach at Gurdwara Sahib of Bargari village and they performed the Ardas of ‘samapati‘. They were arrested by the police soon after they came out of the Gurdwara Sahib.

Meanwhile, leaders of SAD (Mann) and UAD have condemned the police action.
