Ambala: The governments of Punjab and Haryana today unleashed crackdown on Sikh activists and prevented them from taking out a march from Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib to Darbar Sahib Amritsar.

The march was announced by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa who is fasting since November 14, 2014 seeking permanent release of seven Sikh political prisoners who remains jailed in India even after completing their jail terms.

The Haryana police did not allow Sikh sangat to initiate march from Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib near Ambala where Bhai Gurbaksh Singh is camping for last 56 days.

On the other hand Punjab police prevented Sikh sangat from moving towards Ambala at Shambhu barrier state border between Punjab and Hayrana.

As the reports of police restrains reached at the venue of hunger strike by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa confusion began to prevail.

Surinder Singh, a TV journalist, in one of his reports said that AISSF president Karnail Singh Peermohammad and a local SGPC member belonging to Badal Dal were trying to get the march canceled. In a camera encounter with Karnail Singh Peermohammad Surinder Singh asked ‘if Badal government had any problem if the march is taken out by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa?’

While countering Surinder Singh’s point Karnail Singh Peermohammad maintained that the decision to cancel the march was taken even before his arrival to Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib. He said that the decision to cancel the march was taken by choosing a ‘slip’. He said that it was not a proper method to take decisions by picking up slips randomly.

Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) sources said that the matter of ‘Last Wish March’ was then discussed by ‘Panj Pyare’ who decided in favor of taking out march to Amritsar.

As soon as Panj Pyare, along with Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa and hundreds of other Sikhs, tried to begin the march the Haryana police prevented them from moving forward.

Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa’s press secretary Gurpreet Singh Guri Hans informed that the police said that they can not allow Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa to move out without having medical check up. ‘Initially the police said that they wanted to conduct medical check up but later they started saying that they can not allow us to take out march until the medical reports arrive’ Guri Hans updated on Facebook.
